NMCL’s most recent laboratory testing indicates that the Black Berkey® Purification Elements will initially reduce Fluoride up to 99.9%. Typically, carbon-based elements that reduce Fluoride begin to lose that ability rather quickly. This may be the case with Black Berkey® Elements as their efficiency at removing Fluoride likely plays out long before the 3,000-gallon life […]

This can occur on occasion. Typically, it means that the top & straw (and bottle) are in need of a good soapy cleaning. Follow standard cleaning procedures which are on the instructions that come with each bottle. In some cases, it may be necessary to soak the top/straw for a bit before cleaning, or use […]
Coliform bacteria are not pathogenic (disease causing) organisms but are a natural part of the microbiology of the intestinal tract of warm-blooded mammals, including man. Total coliform bacteria are a collection of relatively harmless microorganisms. Coliform bacteria can be found virtually everywhere – in soil, on skin, on animals, insects, in lakes and rivers, etc. […]
Water Filter Labs tested for the ability of the most common counter top and gravity fed filters to remove heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, arsenic and mercury as well as elements that have radioactive isotopes such as strontium, cesium, uranium, and aluminum reduction. We don’t recommend the recycling of the Black Berkey® Purification Elements, PF-2s or PF-4s. The shells of the Berkey® PF-2™ and PF-4™ are made of Polypropylene, which is Recycle Code 5. Uses of Polypro (for short) include catsup bottles, yogurt containers, margarine tubs & medicine bottles. However, there is no recycle code for the Berkey PF™ elements. […]
New Millennium Concepts, Ltd. uses only the highest quality, highly polished AISI 304 grade stainless steel, known for its high corrosion and heat-resistant properties, in our Berkey® Water systems. It is equivalent to high quality 18/8 stainless steel cookware.
The A/C adapter that comes with the Berkey Light® requires 110V AC power. We do offer a voltage converter for our international customers. This converter will convert foreign electricity (220/230 volts) to U.S. electricity (110/120 volts). To order a voltage converter click here. To order a light up Berkey Base™ click here.
Why do the log reduction levels differ for varying Berkey® element tests? Some laboratory results show testing to greater Log reduction (example: 99.9% vs. 99.99999%) than others.
“…The quantitation limit of an individual analytical procedure is the lowest amount of analyte in a sample which can be quantitatively determined with suitable precision and accuracy. The quantitation limit is a parameter of quantitative assays for low levels of compounds in sample matrices, and is used particularly for the determination of impurities and/or degradation products…” REFERENCE: […]
