Should the Berkey Earth® elements be tested with red dye like the Black Berkey® Elements?

The red food coloring test is only designed for the Black Berkey^® Elements and NOT recommended for the Berkey Earth^® elements. While the amount of food coloring may be reduced, this test can permanently dye the elements pink.
